Gubaidulina Festival (2018)
Two days of in-depth exploration of the world of this icon.
The Russian composer Sofia Gubaidulina (1931) is one of the most remarkable voices in contemporary music. Her music is completely original, deeply rooted in spirituality, crystal clear, and extremely precise.
The New European Ensemble invited her to The Hague for a retrospective of her work. On 5 and 6 October 2018, the New European Ensemble, the Residentie Orkest The Hague, and students of the Royal Conservatoire will present a selection from her oeuvre — ranging from early atonal compositions from the Soviet period to recently written works.
